Low FPS in Windows 7 - devs confirm?

This problem has been plaguing me since release and I've tried everything I can on my end to fix it. There are plenty of other people confirming this exact issue, with the same symptoms, but I have not heard any recognition, which this obviously needs as it will never be fixed otherwise.
Basically in Windows 7 the performance is halved. Where as on XP I get 90 FPS minimum just about, in Windows 7 my average is 60 and drops to 0-45~ in combat, the game becomes choppy and the mouse becomes unresponsive, thus I have actually put off playing the game altogether, which really makes me sad...

My specs:
Q6600 @ 3, 4GB DDR00, Win7 64-bit, 275 GTX 896MB (tried every driver revision/setting imaginable), X-Fi Fatal1ty (disabled to rule this out)
Originally I thought GPU usage might be a reason but since my findings only indicate higher GPU usage correlates with higher frame rate, it has no actual bearing (eg 90-125fps, 70-80% usage, 55-70fps, 30-50% usage). CPU usage never maxes on all 4 cores in either OS, but is usually quite high.

There's a good other 6 dozen threads on the Steam forums but are made redundant by several good ones with comparisons and 100 more people confirming the same thing.
Obviously for those with single HDD configuration and no copy of XP, not to mention the inherit ridiculousness of needing to boot in to XP just to play ONE game, playing on XP isn't a reasonable compromise for me, or many others unless it's their primary OS.

Are the servers down at Steam? I cannot start Black Ops MP

Wondering what the issue is at Steam.  I recently purchased Black Ops and finished the single player campaign.....Then I tried to start the multiplayer campaign and for two days now, it has read "This game is not currently available. Try again later."

Anyone have any knowledge on this?  Thanks a lot.

For PCDev: Vehicle limitation in BO?

To PCdev,

I done a quick test of spawning a jeep willys into BO as a Vehicle and it works. There are however a number of things which looks to be hardcoded and would like to have confirmation before I invest more time into it

- Forward movement is binded to Fire button, i see in the vehicle file that i can bind controls but thats for Console Only right? I just need to know if i can bind forward key on it. Oh and reverse wont work.
- As in CODWAW, the driver is not visible. I tried to remove the self ghost() code from _vehicles.gsc but with no effect. Is driver invisible hardcoded and not reversible?
- I dont see a physics_collmaps folder in BO and so my vehicle has no collision, is that dealt with differently now in BO?
- Am I right in saying that DDef arent used anymore for Vehicles? Just pristine and death models in Vehicle file?

Can't use Mule Kick?

Okay, so, after hunting about 5 different websites and a few google searches, I've not been able to find an answer. Everybody seems to own all the map packs, and plays on a console. Now here's the question:
Is it possible to buy the Mule Kick perk WITHOUT owning Rezurrection? I have the Escalation pack alone, and I see the Mule Kick in Kino and Call of the Dead (don't often play Five much, but I know it's there). Thing is, even with the power turned on and all other perks bought, I'm unable to buy the Mule Kick. When I "use" it, it just gives a clicking noise. Doesn't say anything about not having enough points, or anything. Is it impossible to own in Solo Play, as I've been mainly playing Solo lately? Or do I need to buy the map pack to buy the perk in-game? I just want to know for sure.

Black Ops - Solo/Co-op Zombies will not work

Hey all.  Until 4 days ago, my game worked offline or online.  I've changed nothing in my system.  I've changed nothing in the router and verified all Steam software, router settings, all related pc software is up to date.  I spent about 40minutes on chat with support and they offered nothing other than links to things I'd already tried.  I've been into computers since cobal, fortran and basic so I usually have a good idea what to do including spending hours on here looking for tips from others posts.   That being said, is anyone else unable to play Black Ops Zombies in OFFLINE mode?  Since this game came out, I've usually only had time for short games so I play Solo Offline.  I usually have to unplug the internet because Steam automatically goes online whether I want to or not.  Well, now I can't even get Zombies mode working offline.  I have all the other COD games for pc.  All other games are working in offline mode just fine.  I rarely play online as I said.  I've deleted my game from Steam and tried a reinstall. That did not fix the problem because Steam, in it's infinite wisdom, simply reloaded the cached version.  The way I see it now, my only option is to delete Steam completely.  All my other games, remove them and it from my computer and start a new Steam Account. Anyone having this problem besides me?  Like I said, I've run anti-virus', all the Steam junk: Defragged, verified etc.  I find if strange that a week or two before the release of the next version of the game, the old one suddenly craps out.  Coincedence?  oh, until I reloaded the game, I couldn't even play a mission (not zombies just regular mission)  The game wouldn't even open.  Anyway, thanks in advance for any comments of a useful nature.  At least my WAW Zombies is still working but I miss my monkey bombs...lol. hey, if this is my worst problem in life, I can live with that. Call of Duty : Black Ops en Black Ops 2 sound issue

Hi,

 

I have problems with sound in  "Call of Duty : Black Ops" and "Call of Duty : Black Ops 2".

 

I have tried updating the DirectX, but it doesn't help either.

 

I will restart my computer later on to see if that helps, but I doubt it.

 

I use a "Afterglow Wireless Gaming Headset".

 

Anyone have a solution ?

Question regarding post-installation boot up.

After i finish installing the game and i go to open  single or multi player i get a pop up saying "It appears Call of Duty Black Ops did not quit properly the last time it ran. Do you want to run in safe mode?"

I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall and nothing is working, tried to fix my resolution, almost looked at any fix. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey all.This is a problem me and a few friends have been getting since black ops was released.

In the middle of trying to play anything online over Black Ops the game would automatically disconnect me and say: Call of Duty black ops server is not availible at this time and reccomend me to their site for updates.

What i already know is it is not a regional problem. Several Gamespot forums i have read have said this is a irregular problem and it happens randomly to people who bought the game so far as i can tell. This is a huge problem because it limits the game i just payed for down to singleplayer, and as fun as it is i've already finished it and some parts are still glitchy on harder difficulties, but anyway.

From what i have read on this possible error is that Activision reccomended PS3 users to take down router firewalls, but nothing was mentioned for PC's and i am not using any firewalls at this time. Also, some people have rumored that the problem was related to treyarch keeping people out of multiplayer to avoid allout server crashing near the launch.

This is a serious problem and unless treyarch can release a fix sooner or later there's no way in hell i'm buying anymore of this series. If anyone can contribute information and correct me as to what the problem IS, or also state issues realated to this one or provide some help it would be greatly appreciated. "

Hello,

I'm not able to connect to black ops. When I launch the black ops multiplayer the same message pop up every time on the main screen :
The Call of Duty: Black Ops server is not available at this time. Please try again later or visit http://www.callofduty.com/blackops/status for update.

On the status page everything is green. At the moment, no issue.

Until 13.11.2010 morning (europe, GMT +1), everything was working fine. I was able to play online.

I didn't change anything to my computer or network configuration. I was already forwarding the 3074 port to my computer.
I tried a lot of things to be able to join the server, but nothing worked!

I put my computer IP address in my network DMZ, I disabled my firewalls (router and computer firewalls). I reinstalled the game and removed every config files, i tried the game on another computer... etc.

A lot of people seem to have the same issue. Is there any solution?

Could that be an issue coming from my ISP (internet access provider)?

Campaign Won't Save! Can a dev please answer to acknowledge!

As the title says, my campaign won't save. I have read on a few other forums with people having the same problem. I am very disappointed. As much as I love multiplayer and zombies, I would like to be able to play the campaign as well. I have a legit copy of the game and everything else works fine. I will start up the first mission, beat it, save and exit to the menu, check to make sure my progress is saved (which it is), but when I completely exit the game and start it back up, it says I have never even started the campaign.

Would a dev please acknowledge that this is a problem and that they are trying to patch or if someone else has had this problem and there is an easy fix, I would greatly appreciate it.

So, I woke up this morning, started my game and was suprised to see there was a patch.
I was going: "Yeah, maybe this fixes something".
Game boots, I choose the server browser. And, damn... only 77 servers out of the 14K that are hosting.
Ow, well, let's join one, "Connecting to [servername]"

So, wtf were you trying to patch and why the f*ck did you **** up my game in a way that playing is not even possible anymore?

p.s. I did a file integrity check with steam and all was "ok"...

Damn Treyarch, i was hoping you learned from World at War, with the sound bug on zombie and all, but i guess you still managed to **** it up....

Yeah gamepads....

I've  been wondering why there is in controls panel an gamepad wich is gray and everytime I put my gamepad (Hama Black force ((Playstation Visual))) It doesn't detect it?

Does it only detect xBox gamepads or Black ops gamepads?

Because I wanna try to experience some gamepad gameplay

Big FPS Drop in Havana

Hey guys. For the most part I have no lag/stutter in the game. However when I'm at Havana and I am at one of the two ends and I look directly across the map my FPS will drop from say 100-150 to about 50-60. Then I can look away and it will go back up. Funny huh?
Well I looked at my GPU1 and GPU2 usage, and it was only at 50-60%. This game is so poorly coded that the GPU load will only get high (around 80%) on Jungle. Havana is the only map giving me this type of problem, and it is awfully annoying. Sometimes I can't tell, but I have very good eyes and I notice a TINY fps drop. Yeah, it's still playable but it's pretty sad that this game can't even take good use of my video cards.

To anyone wondering, my basic specs are:

Win 7 Pro 64bit
Intel i7 950
(2) EVGA GTX 460 768MB SC (factory overclocked) in SLI

I play with everything maxed out including 16x AA and full Anisotropic Filtering @ 1680x1050 resolution.

This is the only game where I see ANY fps drop at all. If I play Bad Company 2 I CONSTANTLY get 95-100% GPU1 and GPU2 usage and never get lag. It upsets me to see this very much.

MW2 didn't have this horrible problem. Infinity Ward knew what their doing (at least at coding the game)

Command Line Parameters

Are there command line parameters to start Black Ops?  I have a file share that loads the private match settings.  I wonder if there is a command
line to auto-load that like we had command line parameters for CoD4 ("C:\Program Files...\iw3mp.exe" +set dedicated 2 +exec mp-server.cfg +map_rotate +set net_port "28960")

I know those command line parameters will not work, but is there anything similar?

So I bought black ops and I downloaded it and stuff but when I try to run it ( on  steam ) it says couldn't load image '~gviewhands_marine_gloves_col'  Can I get some help please? Or did I just waste $50 buying your game? ._.

So anyone else having this issue? my black ops worked fine on windows 7, I switched to windows 8 today and i get tons of fps drops, anyway to fix this? Well i think this will get alot of people pissed because of the compatability issues.

So what does this do?
This allows you to edit various settings to help optimize or customize the game for your needs and requirements. It's has some other features aswell like a playercard creator and an option to edit the config manually!

Can I get banned for this?
NO! You cannot get banned for this because this just edits you config file!

Why is it so... empty?
Well it's still in beta stages and there are still things for me to add but I'll guess I'll release it first to give you guys an insight. Some things I need to add is a 'Controls' tab as well as options to reset various settings and add little tweaks and fixes.

How do I use it?
Just run the program and the rest is self explanatory!

I can't seem to get the program running?
You will need .NET Framework 4 to run this program correctly. I'm sorry if this is inconvenient for any people as I tried converting the project to an older version and got some nasty errors.

There are some bugs I found!

Just posts your ideas here and I will consider in the next update! Just as long as you don't come up with stupid ideas.

How come the background in your screenshot is all colourful and mine is all plain and ugly?
Just click Edit > Background Colour and then select the colour of your choice.

Notes:
If you use the manual config edit function, make sure you restart the program manually (click 'No' if it asks to save) after you click 'Save Config File' otherwise you may face some problems or what I like to call retardedness.
